Job Application Help?

Asked by mea05key (1812points) January 16th, 2009

I am not satisfied with my current job and really hope to look for another job. I just graduated from my university. I wanted to stay in this job while searching for a suitable one. In your opinion , will the company that I am applying to regard this as a sort of betrayal or contact my current employer to find out about me? If that is the case, I am afraid that my current company will sack me . I need the income to support myself that why I need to stay while in the look. Any suggestion on this ? Thank you.

On most applications there is a question that reads: May we contact your current employer? Say No. It’s fine, and people totally understand that often people look while still employed. Preferably you’ll actually be able to speak to a live person (not just drop off your app.), and you can explain more in depth if necessary. Be sure to give proper notice to your current employer when you acquire a new job and don’t burn any bridges if possible. Good luck in your search!

I agree with bythebay. If asked, you can just say that you want to move on! Good luck. These are not easy times.
