What's the best sports game? Don't really have a lot of money to spend. Recession is hurting me. I've searched the Internet and the games are pretty stupid.

I want to answer this but I was wondering if you could clarify or elaborate on your question. What do you mean by ‘the games are pretty stupid’? Which games in particular so we’ll have some kind of idea what your dislikes are and then we can then speculate on what we might recommend for you.

Sports games are all pretty much the same imho. They are roughly similar to the actual sport.. and you press buttons to control the players. Seems that if you are into the sport, then most modern games would suffice. I got EA sports 08 stuff football, hockey, golf, basketball, and soccer all in one box for only 30 bucks… i was disappointed they didn’t have baseball but… other than that it’s exactly what i wanted.

We also don’t know what system you want to buy this game for. For me it’s all about pc games.

Madden.
or you could torrent some emulators and get tecmo bowl, Punch out!!, Double dribble, NHL 95. ect. ect. its awesome to play all your old favorites on your pc.

I feel your pain. Your best games are your console games, but we’re talking $60 or more a pop. I did find a really cool racing game and it’s free. (They will try to sell you some upgrades, but they do it in a cool way.) This isn’t NASCAR racing. It’s horse racing. You’re jockeying the horse. I’ve actually ridden Big Brown and Secretariat. Check it out at www.horseracegame.com. I give it 4 stars! When you do save up some money, go get Madden Football. It is the best of all games, but it’s going to cost you.

How much are you wanting to spend? $0? $20?

Do you mean an interactive sport game like you’d find on the Wii, or do you mean something like an EA sport game?

Either way, look for used copies first. Check on Craigslist or your local classifieds site to find a regular joe selling off his copies to score one real cheap. I highly suggest NOT looking at a video game store’s used copies, as they often sell their used games for 75% of the regular retail price, and you have to shell out an extra few bucks for the guarantee so that when you take it home and it’s broken and doesn’t work, you’re not totally screwed.

Madden, Madden, Madden – go spend the money! Most of the games on the Internet don’t amount to much. You can demo some pretty good games and then they’re gonna sell you hard. I downloaded that horse race game. No feedback yet. I’ll play with it this weekend and repost, though it did look pretty cool.
