What would be some great oldies songs to sample?

Asked by chelseababyy (7939points) February 15th, 2009

I wanna try it out in FL Studios Producer Edition and I need some ideas for what to sample. I’m looking for stuff like Donny Hathaway and the Isley Brothers. What do you think?

Boris the Spider by The Who would be a great one I think!

oldies? hm. well, you can go back to the 40’s with the Ink Spots:
“I don’t want to set the world on fire.”
Found it (as many others did) through Fallout 3’s soundtrack. Great song, although very haunting when set to a fallout-ridden wasteland setting.
But a good song nonetheless.

Nobody’s mentioning the Rolling Stones? Elvis? Sinatra?

I would listen to (or else find a listing of) the soundtrack of “Apocalypse Now” for 60’s tunes, and “American Graffiti” for the 50’s.

Sample this! I’m dead serious.
