System Application Program, in that context.

Well in colleges I teach at, it means Satisfactory Academic Progress (but I’m guessing that’s not it for you).

Could be talking about the ERP system SAP which is used by larger companies to manage finances etc.

From Wikipedia:

SAP was founded in the year 1972 as Systemanalyse und Programmentwicklung (“System Analysis and Protocol Development”).

In the context you provided, they are mentioning two different relational database product vendors. In short, they want to know that you have experience working with data hosted in those systems.

“SAP” itself is a bit of a misnomer. SAP is the company. And they make a myriad of products that can be deployed in any number of configurations and supported in various flavors over a long period of time.

Even more to the point, SAP R/3 and BW are abstractions that sit on top of an RDBMS. It could be that this listing you’ve found is using Filemaker Pro as the RDBMS and running R/3 or BW on top of that.

My guess is @lercio is right, they’re talking about SAP.

@AstroChuck Yeah, we would freak my mom out & set her tv on SAP & then leave. She had no clue how to get it back to English! Heehee.

I was going to leave a smart ass answer, but there aren’t enough good answers to do that yet. I’ll check back. :-)

Well technically it now stands for SAP as the company changed the original name to SAP. Orginally it stood for Systemanalyse und Programmentwicklung strangly that didn’t sell to well in the none German speaking world. So they transalted it to Systems applications and programmas or processes. Finally to SAP.

There are many joke answers out there as well such as Slow as possible, systems against people, Sod awful programme.

Its the top selling ERP software.

“Its the top selling ERP software.” Windows is also a top selling software and they both suck. Actually, they couldn’t have chosen a better name: (from Webster’s dictionary) :

sap2 (săp) pronunciation
v., sapped, sap·ping, saps. v.tr.

To undermine the foundations of (a fortification).
To deplete or weaken gradually.
