Is this battery life normal?

Asked by PIXEL (1233points) March 30th, 2009

Sorry but I’m a bit worried. I’m not sure if my iPhones battery life is normal. I’ve ran tests and only using wifi I get about 4 hours and 30 minutes usage with 2 days standby. Whenever not using wifi I turn it off. I usually hear people getting 6 hours out of their iPhone. Is my battery life normal?

you mean airplane mode and WiFi on, right?

In that case it sounds about right

No it’s always connected to the Cellular Network but when I’m not using wifi I turn it off. I hope its normal.

I had the same thing happen when I first got my iPhone.
The guy at the apple store showed me how to adjust settings to make the battery last longer.
Adjust the brightness of your screen. That is a big battery saver. It can be a lot less bright and still be bright enough. I have mine set well below the halfway point.
Don’t turn on the wifi unless you are using it.
Don’t set your email to automatically look for new emails. You can retrieve emails when you open up the application.
There are other tips available on the apple iPhone website. Look for information about the battery and you should be able to find it.
By the way, I play on mine all day and only charge it at night when I sleep.

set only to 3G when you’re actually surfing the net…that’s one less radio on; also agree with the check manually on the email-push is really not necessary, and even setting to once an hour is fine if you need to have that. Wifi off helps, all of Hess hinge will help. Also I find that leaving at least 10 percent memory (storage) space free speeds up processes and perceptibly runs faster on opening and caching.

I get 6 hours following @sndfreQ

@TaoSan Wow. Now I’m wondering if it has to do with the first charge. Did you charge it for 24 when you got it or did you drain it completely then fully recharge it? (for first charge)

TaoSan's avatar

Oh yeah, I did a full drain, meaning I let the iPod play until the device shut off then charged it 24hrs and repeated.

I can’t remember where I read to do it, MacWorld maybe.

@TaoSan Okay thanks! I’ll remember to do that. Thanks for the help.
