Bricking it and winding up with a $300 paperweight.

Voiding your warranty so Apple won’t provide assistance.

Your iPhone will simultaneously implode and explode, but you will be none the wiser because it will look the same.

Well, for one thing you can’t send it back to Apple to get fixed. Technically, jailbreaking voids your warranty. You could theoretically restore it back to the initial condition, but if Apple somehow finds out that it’s been jailbroken, they have the right to deny you service.

There may be additional problems regarding connecting to your cellular network and using the jailbroken iPhone, but I have no experience with this whatsoever.

Technically, the OS will be a bit slower, but that’s because a jailbroken phone allows multiple programs running at once. This may affect the battery life.

Edit your response – don’t post 3 times in a row! Or just say it in one.

Technically there is pretty much nothing you can do that can’t be fixed. @dynamicduo is kind of right, the OS may run a bit slower, but that largely depends on what programs you are running, and how.

If you have a warranty problem with your phone, all you need to do is restore it before you take it back to Apple so no worries there.

As far as legal is involved, this is the most blown out of proportion topic I’ve ever witnessed. All that happened is that it was put across that jailbreaking your iphone should be made an exception in the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and Apple didn’t agree. Nobody is going to arrive at your door and hit you with an iMac or anything.

I’ve jailbroken crap loads of iPhones and not a problem or a worry in the world. Just look into what it is you’re doing, and you’ll be fine.
