What can be done to improve women's status in Islam?

Why are you trying to change a culture that has been around longer than yours. Just cause it’s different dosent make it evil. It may in your eyes.

They have been around for a long time. They have traditions that cannot be broken. Stop trying to change them and change yourself.

Cause after all. The best way to change the world is to start with yourself.

Islam gives women all the rights needed for the society they live in, the problem is with the practicioners (sp?) of Islam who prevert them due to their own convoluted mis-understanding of the religion.

They can take care of themselves, when they are ready, like these women.

Well, Islam is not a culture. It’s a religion, and as a religion it is the youngest of the Three. It is not evil, nor is it good. Just as any religion or an ideology. Muslims do not have traditions that cannot be broken. No religion do. It just takes a personal decision. There is no higher truth, only inner truth. Be true to yourself, not a religion.

What can be done? Who knows. Not much, if you are not muslim. What can be done to improve womens status in christanity? I have no idea. It depends on in what christan culture you live. Do christan women in Bolivia have the same status as women in Sweden? Why can a black man become a us president but a woman cant be the pope?
I think that if you want to improve the world, you have to try to make the world better for the people you meet and live with. That’s everybody’s responsability, and actually what all religions say. Even islam.

I would say the only way besides letting the women fix it is to nuke Islam as a terrorist organization.
