Can someone explain why Mozilla Firefox keeps on crashing?

Asked by bea2345 (6251points) April 16th, 2009

At least twice or thrice in a session Firefox goes down and I get a message that the problem is being addressed. Then it comes back up where I left off. Although unsaved stuff disappears.

Do you have any of the add ons installed? I’ve had problems with some that haven’t been updated causing firefox to crash.

I have only had it happen when I go to close down Firefox if I click the X at the top of the page instead of closing each tab individually.

Glad to see though that I haven’t been the only one having trouble. It doesn’t happen very often for me though, luckily. I don’t have a lot of the add-ons though.

The biggest problem with mine is the mail icon at the bottom of the page, have the time it won’t work correctly!

What OS are you running. On Win XP Pro SP2 32-bit, I have never had Firefox 3.x crash.

I have had no problems with my firefox. You may have a bad extension or add on. I have had those make firefox crash or act funky.

I haven’t had any problems with Firefox 3.x. I run Windows XP home edition on one machine and Vista on the other, but I only have two add-ons – Colorful Tabs and Ad Blocker. My Internet Explorer crashed constantly which is why I switched to Firefox.

I quit using Internet Explorer months ago cause it always crashed! I have had very little problems with Firefox, and actually have not had it ‘crash’ other than when I go to close it, then I get a window pop up saying something happened. Maybe way back on an earlier version I did have trouble with it crashing completely but now just the other incident and that has only happened a few times. I also don’t have many add ons either.
