where the hell do “the user is currently listening to…” plugins get their data from, I wanna make a app that stores the artist names that I listen to.

try www.last.fm. it connects with your iTunes/iPod and stores what you listen to. you can then create widgets for your facebook/myspace/blog/whatever.

also, there’s a similar program called iLike.
