Does anyone actually believe that the new 'Freedom of Speech' Czar will actually work for freedom of speech?

No. Czars exist to oppress the serfs. The Czar will discover who espouses Conservative views (by monitoring posts on Fluther) and then will send the Health Care Reform Death Squads to force the Conservative to discuss End Of Life Measures until he or she dies of boredom.

I can’t find any reference to a freedom of speech czar from any credible source. The only people talking about this are likes of Glenn beck, Rush Limbaugh, and Fox News. Garbage in, garbage out.

This is a bunch of bullshit that smells worse than the death panels.
The person in question is Mark Lloyd, the FCC’s Chief Diversity Officer. The radical right (not all of the right; the respectable sects of conservatism are keeping their noses out of this) has dubbed him both the Freedom of Speech Czar and the Redistribution of Wealth Czar. They’re pissed because he wants to raise some licensing fees.

So basically this is nothing more than a troll question. For shame, Mr. Leitmotiv.

dpworkin's avatar

That’s why one chooses a troll-bait answer. At least one may amuse oneself.

Noel_S_Leitmotiv's avatar

For the record it is not a troll question. Im dead serious about a dead serious matter.

lefteh's avatar

@Noel_S_Leitmotiv Then just make your point. Don’t do it in the form of a pointed question. Objection, leading the witness.

Noel_S_Leitmotiv's avatar

The format for Fluther posts seems to be questions, not trying to be difficult.

You just phrased your question in a way that is not conducive to discussion. Your question isn’t really a question, it’s clearly you just stating your opinion. That’s not to say that stating your opinion is a bad thing…the opposite is true; Fluther wouldn’t exist otherwise. But you might get a better discussion out of a more objective question, such as “Do you think the FCC’s new Chief of Diversity will work toward freedom of speech or oppress it?”

(And one “actually” ought to suffice in any given question.)

Actually, i wanted to phrase the question in such a way that expresses my opinion.

thanks for the tip.

We do have a “Freedom of Speech Czar.” Actually it’s a collective. Move over Louis Brandeis When you have the worst employment rate for law school graduates in the last 20 years, they have to hang out somewhere.

@Noel_S_Leitmotiv Request clarification of the term “Freedom of Speech Czar”?

The_Compassionate_Heretic's avatar

How does “people disagree with my views” turn into “people are taking away my free speech by not validating everything I say”?

Noel_S_Leitmotiv's avatar

@Bri_L: Obama’s latest Czar: The FCC’s Chief Diversity Officer, Mark Lloyd.

Bri_L's avatar

@Noel_S_Leitmotiv – Thanks. I had no idea what this was about.

dpworkin's avatar

@Bri_L It is about irrepressible Right-wing paranoia stoked by disingenuous propaganda experts with hidden agendas of their own.

Noel_S_Leitmotiv's avatar

Its about the government once again interfering with competition in the private sector.

dpworkin's avatar

Take your pick, @Bri_L !

Bri_L's avatar

@Noel_S_Leitmotiv – what competition are you referring to?

Noel_S_Leitmotiv's avatar

In this case competition between talk radio outlets.

Bri_L's avatar

oh ok. Thanks!

Translation: We don’t want no steenkin’ fees.

Noel_S_Leitmotiv's avatar

Transtlation: we dont want a fee structure that is effectively punitive.
