Which Adult Children of Alcoholics Yahoo group would you recommend?

Asked by SierraGirl (199points) September 3rd, 2009 from iPhone

As a result of a question I asked a few days ago (about Al Anon but I don’t know how to link to it on my iPhone) someone mentioned that there are Yahoo groups for Adult Children of Alcoholics. I looked and there are many. Would there be one you would recommend? I have never used a Yahoo group before. I am also going to go to live meetings starting next week.

Join the ones that look interesting to you and lurk for a little while to see which one you feel the most comfortable with. Maybe you can get some suggestions about an online support group from the others at the meetings you go to.

Whatever you do, be careful about putting much personal information out there until you get a good feel for the group. Internet forums can get pretty ugly very quickly.

Yahoo groups are very easy to form. You might even want to start one of your own. That way, you can be in control of who joins, and the content within. Good luck!

I agree with @scamp ; join several and look at the tone of the messages. On most groups the members can access the archived messages, and I have found reading them is the best way to get a handle on the group.
