Should I install the Firefox 3.6 beta 5 ?

Asked by victord66 (201points) December 18th, 2009

I’ve been using Firefox for years and currently run the latest 3.5 build. Could I install for everyday use the new 3.6 beta 5? Would it be safe enough?

I don’t want to try it. I’ve had bad luck with prior firefox betas.

Why do you need it? Is your installation not working? I would wait for the RC.

Whenever you are using a beta release there will be potential shortcomings, that’s the nature of the beast and fairly unavoidable. Security is the important thing to consider, so make sure that you have a good, updated security suite on your computer just in case any of the security settings on the beta release are glitchy. If any other bugs etc. make it too hard for you to use, just revert back to the old version.

On another tack, I prefer Google’s Chrome browser, and would really recommend it to anyone so why don’t you give that a spin as well whilst you’re at it?

Mozilla doesn’t think there are no bugs in that, so there might be security holes (even published ones) that could pose a risk.

Also, come on, you can wait a little longer ;-)
