Does it mean anything when you dream of your ex and smiling when you wake up?

Asked by msj623 (1points) January 7th, 2010

So, I woke up from a particular dream and found myself smiling a little. What was the dream about? Well, it was about this guy in my class. We had something before but then it ended a few months ago for reasons only he knows actually. Anyways, the dream I had had him in it. And in my dream, I was about to leave when he stopped me and drew closer to me. He was about to kiss me but he backed away suddenly. He placed his arms around my waste and then drew closer again. In my dream, I followed his movement, meaning when he was close enough, I kissed back. It was short. Then he asked, “Are you sure this is okay?”, then he kissed my cheek “are you sure you are okay with this?” then I placed my arms around his neck, gave him a small peck on the lips then I woke up. BUT, when I woke up, I was smiling a little. Here’s my problem, I’m supposed to be moving on, according to my friends he’s not a good guy, but the thing is, i have been having dreams of him recently and some of those times, I barely thought about him. When I smiled, I felt that I wanted my dream to be true, but yeah… it’s not in my hands. Do you think my dream actually meant something or I’m just thinking that it might mean something or something else? Any ideas? Advice?

It’s a dream. It means only that you’re still thinking about him a bit and your brain is processing random things at night.
Move on.

It means that you have not moved on, and you still have feelings for him. That does not make it a good idea to have those feelings. He has broken it off with you in real life. That seems to indicate that he is not interested.

Your dream state says that you are still interested.

By the way, I hope you put your arms around his waist, not his waste!

interestingly the interpretation of dreams can often tell more about the person than the dream itself. you’re interpreting it as something you want to be true – but what is that something? getting back together? one could interpret it just as well saying it was closure on the relationship, the peck on the lips being a final kiss goodbye in answer to the question of “are you ok with this” saying “yes I am”.

It has meaning only if you want it to..

I think it may have the meaning that you still have feelings for him. I would think it doesn’t have to be romantic feelings, maybe you want to be friends with him and smile when you think of still being a part of his life in a friendship way. I still love my ex boyfriend, but not in a romantic way.

Sometimes a dream is just a dream. You have to realize you’re probably building it up to mean more than it really does.

Maybe the ‘smile’ was a grimace instead. Dreams are nothing more than the brain doing it’s daily-evening exercises. It makes up stories out of the memories that it finds and you see them as if watching a free movie. There is no – zero – no any – relationship between your dreams and your waking life, other than the borrowed memories or thoughts.
