What would you like to look at under a microscope?

Asked by Sandydog (1265points) January 7th, 2010

The other night I looked at what I call a “sleepy man” that fell from the corner of my eye using a jewellers X 10 magnifying thing. It made it look like a crystal.
Made me think of what I’d like to look at under a microscope -( or just plain magnified if it wouldn’t fit under a ‘scope ).
I once had a bone marrow sample taken from me and the doctor later on showed me a photograph of one of my blood cells magnified many times – it was like something out of science fiction ( I was later diagnosed with megalobastacism or pernicious anemia where the blood cells become very bloated and weak instead of tight and strong ).
Its a totally different world under the microscope

I like to look at prepared slides of organs, and at living microorganisms. My kids love it when we examine pond water. It’s also nice to look at structures such as fly’s eyes, etc which have been properly prepared for viewing. My microscope is out on the table a lot.

I’d like to look at the root of a chin hair that I’ve tweezed out. What exactly is that little thingy?

I once took a soil microbiology class, in in the laboratory portion we looked at various microorganisms under the microscope. It’s really quite fascinating. I’d love to spend more time looking at them.

I’d love to be able to see a super string but I’d settle for viewing quarks. Although, for that matter, I’d love to just see an electron.

The only thing I haven’t is probably atoms. So I would like to look at atoms and sub-atomic particles.
