My distended stomach is driving me nuts, I need some tips?

Asked by Just_Justine (6511points) January 8th, 2010

I am currently on bipolar medication which I suspect is making it worse. However, having said that, I have always had a distended stomach, no matter if I worked out, was much lighter in weight, or anything else I have done. Are some people just born that way? I think it could be an allergy but those blood tests are very expensive.

Did any of you find wheat was an allergen? Or gluten and how did it affect your stomach after removing it. (The gluten not your stomach!!).

I really need help it’s getting me so down, I don’t go out any more unless I have to! It just bloats up and gets out of control.

Have you ever tried a colon cleanser or gas release medications? Wheat can make you bloat. You may also be retaining water. There are so many foods that can make you bloat. Dairy is a big one and so is beans, broccoli, califlower, onions, green peppers etc. You should be able to find a site that list them all. I know someone who swears by beano. Its a product you add to your food to keep you from getting gassy.

Do you eat a lot of white bread & potatoes? I’ve found that by cutting them out that my stomach has gone down some. I’m still not happy with it, but it’s helped a lot.

—@jbfletcherfan no, I kept away from all starch for ages, rice, potatoes, bread. But I dont think that is good either, I think I went a year without any of the above, but I do eat breakfast cereal for example which contains wheat. I’ve heard about gluten being an issue.—
