I vote for 360, mostly because I enjoy the Xbox games more than Playsation games.

we have a 360. But we actually want a Wii. The gaming on the 360 is better than the PS3 though and the online community is SOOOO much better with a 360! Hey if you get a 360 add me to your friends on Xbox Live! RainbowBrite86 – Its a blast!

PS3. Who likes paying for a shitty excuse for an online service called XBOX live?

LethalCupcake's avatar

@FlutherMe Excuse me?? The XBox live community is the Largest online community related to a game console.

@LethalCupcake

… ya and China has the largest amount of people, but it’s still a shitty place to live.

Random style matchmaking? Parties? A centralized network? What for??
Ps3 games for the most part run there own servers (ps3 does work with PSN, but is still decentralized). Every game has it’s own style of online play (unlike XBOX where you can either play random or party and usually the maps are random as well). Most games allow you to create a room that goes on a list where players can go through the list and CHOOSE a game they want to join (they can see the people in that game, the maps, etc). Most ps3 games work on a host\join style of matchmaking.

Also XBOX likes to ban people. Ps3 is easy to unban yourself. Just make a new account. I have 5+ names that have been banned onn there!!

EDIT: Ohh yta best of all its free!!

LethalCupcake's avatar

@FlutherMe You can absolutely choose the games you want to join. And what the hell are you doing constantly to have yourself banned??? Thats just Stupidity. XBox also has Last.fm, Facebook, New game demos, Videos & more – ALL FREE. & its really not expensive to even have a subscrition!

sjmc1989's avatar

Neither. Go with the Super Nintendo that is the newest game system I have and it is all I need!

@FlutherMe Have you tried any of the party games?? & the Facebook doesn’t update your status with Achievements – Its just regular Facebook! – Which I think is pretty badass. & Last.FM is an amazing Music tuner – FREE

@Mike_Hunt i lurve the PC also – don’t be ashamed :P

Both are comparable in power and graphics, though fans of one or the other will point to some spec and say that their preference is better.

What you should do is decide on what games you NEED to have, and what games you WANT. Then choose the system that has most of your needs first, and most of your wants second.

Now, that said, I’ll admit that I’m partial to the Xbox because (1) being an adult, the larger controllers fit my hand better than the Playstation’s, and (2) most of the games I like are available for both systems.

And I like the PC as well. Some niche games (like MS Train Simulator, and MS Flight Simulator) are available only for the PC, and other games (like The Sims, and Roller Coaster Tycoon) just require a keyboard. The downside to a PC is that keeping a gaming PC current is a money pit!

@HungryGuy Your right about that

I’ve had both, and I favor the PS3.

Not that there’s anything wrong with the 360 while it works. But they stop working, rather frequently. The following is an off hand list of people I know who have owned an x box that it stopped working and had to be repaired/replaced.
-My brother, twice
-My room mate, twice
-Myself, twice.
-My friends broke, but still “kind of” worked (drive issues)
-My uncle
-Another friends was breaking prior to it being stolen.
-My brothers friend
-Another friend of mine

Honestly, that’s most of the people I know who have one (and some who I didn’t even know had them). 3rd parties estimated that something like 80% of launch edition 360’s failed within the first year, and something like 35% of currently made ones still fail. They have MAJOR issues with over heating because Microsoft found out its cheaper to use crappy welding material that will literally “un-weld” when the system gets too hot, and just replace the ones that people complain about (That’s actually what causes the red rings… they still use that material, just not in the same place anymore).

Furthermore I had my xbox stolen and I immediately called and canceled my live account since I knew I wouldn’t eb able to afford another 360. 6 months later I noticed that they never canceled my account because somewhere in the 45 minute call to Banglepor or wherever in India they’ve outsourced their call center too… they simply “forgot” to cancel it whilst trying to wrap their heads aroudn the concept that it was stolen.

I had to call and waste another hour of my time telling them I had canceled it 6 months prior and they didn’t believe me until I finally said, and I quote… “Listen you dumb bitch, get on xbox live, type in my account name, and you’ll see that my last login was over 6 months ago….. IT WAS STOLEN AND I CALLED YOU GUYS YOU HAVE THE CALL ON RECORD, WHY THE HELL ELSE WOULD I CALL???” ..... They finally refunded me my money.

WHEN it was working, the 360 was just as fun as my PS3, and it has a slightly larger library (it used to have a massively larger library of games, but the PS3 has caught up considerably). The graphics are better on the PS3, but not by THAT much.

I would take the PS3 just so you don’t have to deal with Microsofts shoddy worksmanship and crappy customer service.

I have to go for the Xbox 360. The quality really depends on your Television and if you are using a high definition cable instead of the custom cable. Using a high definition cable on a high definiton T.V. makes the quality the same or even better than the PS3. Also Xbox has a lot of games that are Xbox only games like Halo. The newest Xbox the modern warfare 2 edition has a 250 gigabyte hard drive and doesn’t or isn’t supposed to have any problems. The decision is up to you really but if all your friends have PS3 you would probably want to get that then so you can play with them online.

nikayamo's avatar

The only reason people choose ps3 over 360:
1. they are too poor to afford the “expensive” quality online gameing.
2. Too dumb to realize how to actually take care of a console so it doesn’t break.
3. Do not know how to properly handle a call to Microsoft if they failed at #2.

FrankHebusSmith's avatar

@nikayamo Quality online gaming? My experience was gaming dominated by 10 year olds with high pitched irritating voices. And for that matter I only ever played one game on xbox live that was worth playing online.

Too dumb to realize? Did you see my laundry list? That’s not like it was everyones first system ever either. I’ve been playing games for some 20 years… The 360 was designed flawed because Microsoft wanted to beat Sony to the market, and they wouldn’t have made that happen if they wasted their time figuring out that soldering.

And handling the call would be a lot easier, if I spoke whatever language they speak in India.

HungryGuy's avatar

Hindi is the “official” national language. But every state has its own language, or “mother tongue” with many dialects within a language. Most people are fluent in their “mother tongue” and speak Hindi as a second language. Gujarati seems to be the most common such “mother tongue,” though Punjabi and Maharastran are also widespread.

@HungryGuy: Props to you for that info. It was random, but it made me laugh.

FrankHebusSmith's avatar

@HungryGuy Agreed….. That is good to know. lol

HungryGuy's avatar

@Dan_DeColumna – LoL. Actually, it wasn’t random. It was a direct answer to @westy81585‘s question directly above it :-)

nikayamo's avatar

@westy81585 well, obviously you need some sort of “special” xbox for your extreme demands, because i don’t know anyone whos xbox has broken thats taken good care of it. And 10 year olds dominate all systems, not just the 360.

Dan_DeColumna's avatar

@HungryGuy: I don’t know if I’d consider “whatever language they speak in India” as a request of any kind. At the very least, I don’t think @westy81585 was expecting a reply. I guess that is what actually made me laugh.

FrankHebusSmith's avatar

@Dan_DeColumna Yah I wasn’t expecting a reply, but it’s still good to know.

@nikayamo And dude, I don’t have any extreme demands. At the most I only played the thing for a few hours a day (college demands kept me from playing it that much). And BAM, red rings…. I send it in and they send me a new one… a month later… BAM, rings again.

My buddy barely played his at all for like months at a time. Then I came over one day with NCAA, and he was like, sure we can play it, let me just dust off the 360 and plug it in (he hadn’t played it in like a month)... Turned it on, put the game in, midway through the first quarter BAM, red rings.

Don’t get me wrong, they’re fun when they work…. but they break like a mother.

Esculent's avatar

Well the red rings happen alot from being overheated. If the Xbox is laying on carpet where it can’t be ventilated properly it will cause the red rings. Also the red rings usually only happen on the white Xbox 360 not the black Xbox 360 Elite because they were the first made, and lately the red rings have not been occuring because Microsoft fixed this flaw or so they said. Anyways still if your friends have the PS3 buy that so you can play with them online.

LethalCupcake's avatar

@Esculent If for some reason the Red Ring does occur… It usually means the XBox just needs to be rebooted. If you wrap a towel completely around it – and make it overheat and reboot – it will fix the problem. Not the best thing to do and I would call Microsoft right away – but It takes care of it for now

FrankHebusSmith's avatar

@Esculent Mine was sitting comfortably on a shelf with nothing around it….. The elite models don’t do it because microsoft spent the money to give them proper soldering. And current xbox’s still have this problem (though reportedly to a lesser extent), as my first 360 that failed, I called microsoft and was able to exchange it for a new one. Then some 2–3 months later that one had the same problem.

@LethalCupcake The towel method does work, because it literally “re-melts” the solder back into position. That’s why they suggest if you do it, lay your xbox upside down, so that it can melt back “up” into position…... I tried this with my second xbox, and it worked… But it only lasted a few days and then I had to do it again.

Arp's avatar

In my opinion, PS3’s tend to lag more and have worse games, Xbox’s crash more often (But Microsoft is good about fixing that) but has better graphics. Its all a matter of loyalty, though.
