How can I get my mouse to stop clicking once and going straight to the program?

Asked by troubleinharlem (7991points) February 1st, 2010

This is kind of hard to explain. I’m not using a mouse that’s separate from the laptop, it’s built in with a fingerpad. When I click something (it highlights the, lets say, picture) but then it opens up my picture editing program. How can I get it to stop doing that and just make it click again?

Describe the mousepad in a bit more detail, please. My MacBook Pro pad, for instance, is one big, multitouch button.

Assuming you’re running windows, Start > Control Panel > Folder options. Be sure “Single Click to Open an item (point to select)” is not selected.
