How do I switch Phones without switching plans with Sprint?

Asked by sunyata_rakshasa (350points) February 27th, 2010

Here is the case

I quite literally watched a man throw his old (but still working and usable) Samsung Instinct into the trash can

This guy is a prick and doesn’t want me to have his old phone cause he doesn’t like seeing people have things as nice as him…

I went and grabbed the phone when he left…

I want to switch from using my Samsung Reclaim and start using this lightly used Samsung Instinct

How do I go about doing this…is it illegal of me to take it, when I bring it in…will they try to return it to him…or because he deactivated it, is it free game????

Thanks for all the help…not sure what to do

Take it into the store, explain what happened, and see if they will switch it. The warranty on a phone purchased through Sprint is only good for 30 days; it’s the length of the contract that determines whether or not you’re due for a new phone discount. We’ve switched phones among family members before with no problem.

Sprint collects old phones and donates them to women’s shelters; 911 works on phones without carrier plans. Donate your old phones; don’t toss them.

thanks…that is exactly what my plan for my currant phone was going to be if they switched it over…i’ve been donating my old Cell Phones…since i started using cell phones…my Late Grandmother was one of the co-founders of the Alexander House Minneapolis Division…my mother and I even spent some time in one when i was 8…and we received and old cell phone for just that purpose

and it saved out lives more than twice

thanks again…
