Is there any way to revive dried out cheese?

Asked by lilikoi (10105points) March 30th, 2010

Someone in my house stuck a big hunk of formerly tasty cheese into the fridge unwrapped. It has dried out and now looks icky. Is there anyway to salvage it? Or is it goners?

you can try to grate it and cook with it. Try a little bit microwaved over a couple crackers with some salsa.

Yeah, I vote for grating or melting. Sounds like you have a fun experiment on your hands!

Chunk it up and stir it into a pot of drained, hot noodles, along with a cup or so of sour cream, some sage and some parsley.

Is it only the outside or clear through? Still good for pasta like @YARNLADY said.

Thanks for all the replies everyone! I chunked it up and melted it over pasta just as you all suggested and it worked out wonderfully. I’m so glad it’s not ruined!
