What does the "T,B,I" dial do on an old Kodak?

Asked by simonPARASITE (195points) April 16th, 2010

I was recently given my grandfather’s old Kodak, c. 1950 and there is a dial on the camera with the letters T, B & I on. And I cannot figure out what this dial does or what these letters mean.

B and T were common shutter speed settings.

“T” = Time shutter setting, you click once to open and again to close
“B” = Bulb shutter setting, you click and hold the button as long as you want the shutter open

Maybe “I” was instant? A quick picture, like 1 / 30th second or similar?
