what is a creative way to purpose?

Asked by eklamor (415points) March 12th, 2008 from iPhone

I love my girlfriend and soon will ask her to be my wife. What are some creative/romantic ways to ask? Anyone care to share how they were asked or did ask?

Michael and I love Paris, France but I was really busy with a project and had no way of taking us to Paris, at the time, instead we went to Vegas, jokingly we were going to “get married” (even though it isn’t legal in Nevada) with the intention of it being a joke, little did he know I had made reservations at the PARIS HOTEL :D and at the Eiffel Tower restaurant, on the strip, I pretended to drop my fork (an inside joke between the two of us) and when I got down on my knees to retrieve the fork, I only lifted one, look him in the eyes, produced the box I had in my possession for more months that I can remember, and asked him to be mine, after a few rude stares and the faintest sound of some drunk gamblin’ cowboy’s “fag” remark… he said “yes.”

The point I’m trying to make is I thought “what does Michael love more than anything?... Paris.” then I brainstormed from there. Hope that helps and didn’t make you want to throw up :D

I’ve never “purposed” to anyone.

Are you in or close to New York City? There’s something called the “whispering wall” in Grand Central Station. You stand at one end of the wall, and she on the other… you are separated by the floor, the travelers, and the noise. But, because of the way the wall is shaped, if you say something from your end, she will hear it on the other end. It would be a pretty cool way to propose! Here’s a video of it:

everyone has a creative purpose, you just need to take the time to find your own.

If you live where you can rent a horse and buggy you could take a ride around the city and then to a nice restaurant where they play live music and have the musicians play a special song and of course order Champagne and pop the question.

There are so many wonderful proposals out there. Just don’t pretend a dr. found the ring in your intestine (yes – it happened to a girl I know). When you do pop the question (or when thinking about rings)- please drop by thegreenbrideguide.com to find ideas and to contribute to my green wedding blog! Your creativity is welcome!

My wife and I were at a wedding (on her birthday). She caught the bouquet. I asked her on the spot.
May 31st will be 23 years!
