Are there any MMORPGs for the Xbox that can be played via Xbox Live?

Asked by HungryGuy (16044points) May 2nd, 2010

I was inspired to ask this question after answering a recent question from a Flutherite who wants to know about free MMORPGs (Massively Multi-player Online Role Playing Games) for an older graphics-challenged PC.

I, too, love RPGs, but never got into MMO because I don’t really need any new technological addictions in my life. But I’m curious now. I like RPG games like Morrowind, Oblivion, Mass Effect; and “playground” games like GTA: San Andreas; snd shooters like Halo, Half Life, and Bloodrayne (though MMO shooters don’t work for me because I tried one once and got fragged every 2 seconds because I don’t have the reflexes of a hyperactive teenager). So are there any MMO games similar to these than can be played via Xbox Live on either an original Xbox or Xbox 360?

The only MMORPGs for Xbox or the 360 that I know of are Final Fantasy XI and Phantasy Star Universe.

Okay. I liked FF7, and played to the very end beating Sephiroth. I also started playing Kingdom Hearts but never really got “into” it and got bored once I left that island. Though after playing games lime Morrowind, Oblivion, Mass Effect, and GTA, I’m afraid that I’ll find a new FF game a bit cartoonish. I like modern RPGs that give you a number of ways to accomplish a task or get past a barrier. Old school RPGs, take 2 steps, fight, take 2 steps, fight, take 2 steps, fight, gets old after a while. I’ve heard of Phantasy Star, but never played it. Maybe I’ll give it a try…
