Do you think "greens" powders are good for you?

I have troubles getting the recommended requirement of fruits and vegetables into my daily diet. I’ve been wondering if Amazing Grass greens powders would be a good addition to my morning smoothie, or is that just like taking another vitamin pill? Has anyone tried this product or a similar product, and if so what do you conclude?

Amazing Grass is an excellent choice. Just make sure you aren’t allergic to chlorophyll like I am

You might do well to forgo the smoothie and just eat some real food for breakfast. Real fruit probably costs less and offers more.
Or you could drop fruit into teh blender.

@Nullo Thank you for your opinion. My smoothie already contains real fruit and yogurt, but it’s the rest of the day that I fall behind in my fruits and veggies. I eat lunch in a different place every day so I usually just bring a sandwich and a granola bar or a fruit. I always include at least one vegetable with my supper, but these things don’t add up to enough.

Can you buy fresh salad mix in the produce dep’t of your market? Rinse, drain and add some dressing, sunflower seeds, dried cranberries, etc/

I sure could, but I know I wouldn’t do it every day. I do like salad but I don’t love it .I do eat it with my evening meal 2 or 3 times a week though. I still need more and that’s why I wonder about greens as an addition….. kind of a guarantee of getting enough. : )

Buy frozen chopped spinach, brocolli, cauliflower, green beans, etc. You can microwave a small portion.

Microwaving vegetables is not a good idea.

Yes, I have tried similar products. To be honest, they most likely aren’t as nutritious as the actual juice of dark leafy green vegetables from a juice extractor (note: sound is loud in the link), but if you can’t get a hold of actual juice, green supplements do provide some important nutrients. I take kelp and organic spirulina, which does provide energy and a sense of well-being. Adding them to your smoothies sounds like a good idea to me.

@Facade Why not? It’s better than taking a pill to increase the vegetable intake.
