Have You Ever Been Glad You DID Ignore a Toothache?

Asked by Aster (20023points) May 14th, 2010

I’ve had molars that have ached for about 10 seconds for as long as I can recall , never told a dentist and they’re fine. Have you ignored a tooth that throbbed and it recovered on it’s own?

Yes. I had toothache a few years ago. As it was a weekend I decided to wait til Monday. By Monday the pain was completely gone and it never came back.

I’ve found there is a phenomenon called, “stirring up the root.” No; it’s not a cooking technique. On some teeth , if you brush too hard with a toothbrush, it stirs it up and this makes it TEND to ache later on. An electric toothbrush is particularly bad for doing this.

No. It just came back worse.

I ignored one, even though it got pretty bad. Finally it went away. Then I had a steak at restaurant and the entire tooth crumbled away while I was chewing. In hindsight, I wish I had gone to a dentist.

@mrentropy I had a root canal then a year later while using dental floss mine popped out. So I guess I did what I was “supposed” to do.

Several were bothering me. I was grinding them at night, which gave me a sore jaw, stopped the grinding for some reason, and now they don’t hurt. But I’ll be on the lookout for them to just start crumbling since I ignored the ache.
