What strange or weird things have you seen while driving?

Asked by AmWiser (14947points) May 23rd, 2010

Today I saw a man with his pet bird perched on his hand while he was driving, and for some odd reason it just struck me as weird. I drive a lot and see many things in peoples cars whether on the move or parked. What are some strange or weird things/happenings have you seen in other peoples cars?

I was on the freeway a couple of weeks ago, and there was a guy playing a game on his Nintendo Ds. On the freeway of all places. That was very weird, but also dangerous.

bout 10 years ago I saw a car out of control driving in the grass median. The driver was obviously unconscious and had half of his body out of the window. My mother quickly tricked us kids to get our attention on something else so we didnt see the crash.

@Rememberme wow that is pretty crazy.

People often use scooters on the road here. I’ve seen a really big man drive a small pink scooter. Also, the other day I saw a bearded hippie driving a smart car.

I still cannot believe how many cars I have seen driving on the freeway at night without headlights on. I do not understand how people can do it! I’ve counted five cars over the years.

I was in a high profile truck and I pulled up next to a nice looking, middle age man, in a nice sedan. He was in a great looking suit, looked like someones nice husband and father. He made eye contact with me and then proceeded to tug his pud for my entertainment. It was quite funny, the guy in the cement mixer who was also watching was NOT amused. I almost got to witness an ass whoopin. The light turned green, bummer.

@Rememberme your mom did a good thing. Seeing that accident could have been devastating,

@Axarraekji LOL…I’m getting a visual of the big man on a small pink scooter.

I have told this before, but its worth mentioning again. on the interstate, woman, in the next lane, was driving a Ford Explorer at about 70 mph. she was talking on a cellphone, had the sun visor down putting on lipstick and steering her vehicle with her knees. i politely slowed down and changed lanes in behind her. i knew she was going to wreck it. she left the interstate on the next exit.

@john65pennington I hear ya. I do the same thing when I see people reading books, maps, etc. while driving on the highway.

@jazmina88 I believe you. I’ve seen strange sightings in the sky while commuting, especially in the early morning hours.

Back in high school, there was a lady who had three vespa’s (scooter) one in pink, yellow and blue. Well she also had a matching outfit for each one. To make matter worst, she had blonde hair, and looked like a barbie from a distance. It was funny.

This isn’t someone else’s car, but I drive home along a winding, hilly road through the woods. There aren’t many street lights out there, so for one stretch of the road there are little reflective patches down the center of the road. So as I’m driving, I can see the patches lighting up ahead of me one at a time, going up and down hills and around curves on an otherwise dark road. It is so neat-looking.

At a stoplight I noticed that the guy in the car next to me was beating on the steering wheel with a pair of drumsticks. The light changed and he put them down and went on. At the next light he did the same thing. I was glad I wasn’t traveling with him.

I was once a passenger in my cousin’s car through an absolutely blinding rain on a freeway out of L.A. (where she is a native). I couldn’t see a thing, and she was going at freeway speed. Meanwhile she did her whole makeup using the rear-view mirror, from foundation to mascara. It was amazing. I asked her how she could do that and drive at the same time, and she said no problem, she did it all the time and she knew where she was going. Only after we reached our destination some 45 minutes later did she admit that she’d been a little bit nervous because she couldn’t actually see anything while she was driving.

This is disgusting—nose-picking. Some people must think that they become invisible when they’re sitting in their cars; do they forget that windows are transparent?

I saw a tornado once, it just briefly appeared, touched the ground and then vanished afyer a few seconds, which was pretty weird considering I was in England at the time.

The weirdest thing I’ve seen whilst walking around in town was a guy rollerskating up the high street, wearing a pink lycra bodysuit, and holding a white rabbit in his arms. A real, live one.

I’ve been driving for close to 50 years. In that time, I have seen a car bounce in the air as it ran over a deer, I helped pull a woman out of her car after she turned into a ditch, saw numerous people reading newspapers and books while driving. I’ve seen little old ladies flip off teenagers, and have been trapped between slow drivers with a truck so close that I could only see the grill.
