Best book for Google Adwords beginner?

My nonprofit recently got a Google Adwords Grant for $25k so I want to learn the basics on how to use Adwords effectively. I’d much prefer straightforward and practical rather than theoretical, and of course, the more up to date, the better.

Any recommendations?

Just wanted to add, that AFAIK, the most important thing to do is to choose effective keywords. Any guide to doing that would be fantastic!

You should read the available materials from Google—they have the best information and know what they are talking about. The student guide for the Google Online Marketing Challege is a really great place to start. You can skip the contest related stuff and go straight into Learning About Google Adwords and Managing and Optimizing Your Account.
