Asked by raquel636 (1points) June 25th, 2010

My ipod screen is turned on, it even shows what song is on, but its frozen and won’t play any music. None of the buttons work, I’ve tried holding the middle button to reboot it and that won’t work. Its even fully charged. I also tried plugging it into my computer and it won’t even show that my ipod it plugged in on itunes. what should i do? is it broken?

The iTunes help file has detailed instructions on recovering a hung iPod.

Press the big button in the bottom, and the turn-on button at the same time. It will work

Hold the power button and the home button for a few seconds and it should restart itself.

First, check to make sure that the iPod isn’t paused or that the “hold switch” is in the “locked position” as indicated by a small “padlock” icon on the screen (if applicable) and color visible on the right side of the “hold switch” (on the top of the iPod). If the iPod isn’t paused or locked, you will need to reset your iPod.

The steps to reboot or restart your iPod are different depending on the model.
