VMWare Fusion, does it work better with XP or Win7?

Asked by Lost_World (1231points) July 22nd, 2010

I have an i7 mbp with VMWf on it, at the moment I have XP installed because I read somewhere that Win7 run much more slowly on it than XP, but is this really true?

I’m sure with many VM situations, I guess it all depends how much of your resources you give the virtual machine. For example if you have enough RAM to give it say 2 or 3 GB, then I’m sure win7 VM should run fine. (probably the same would go for graphics if you have a big enough card)

I know I run XP VM if I have to, due to I can only usually allocate about 512MB of RAM and 10 GB of HD storage space on my machine.

VMWare Fusion has been updated that it runs Windows 7 seamlessly now. I adjusted the settings giving Windows 7 2gb of ram, and it runs very smoothly. 1gb works although it could be a bit slow at times.

I usually run office apps such as Access and have not had any problems at all so far in terms of stability and speed.
