How much would The Six Million Dollar Man costs today?

Asked by rebbel (35549points) August 30th, 2010

The background story of the original novel and the later series is the crash of former astronaut Steve Austin in a “lifting body” craft…
…Austin is severely injured in the crash and is “rebuilt” in a title-giving operation that costs six million dollars. link

So, how much approximately it would cost to build him these days?
More interesting, which gimmicks, gadgets, cybernetics would you want build in in present day Steve?

Let me start three times as much today! I don’t know much about robotics to answer the other part of the question. I think he’s character would be more advanced . Kinda like Iron man with extra with today’s techology.

In a recession? I think that Oscar Goldman may have to make cut backs.

Well, that answered the question pretty much.
Thanks!

Adjusted for inflation, Steve Austin would cost $30,486,917.65 to repair today . But in today’s economy and the ugly nature of the American tax revolt, the probably would just let his carcass rot on the tarmac.
