Where do I find cutting edge insights (not crap) about CEOdom?

Asked by Daddio (5points) September 2nd, 2010

Most of what is written today about becoming a CEO is common sense—simple, if not stupid and inane stuff your Mother told you when you growing up (not that that’s a bad thing). But where is the nitty, gritty stuff about the “dark side” of the executive suite to be found? The stuff only insiders really know, usually from painful experience and mistakes made. Books (good ones)? Internet sites (provocative ones)? Or just your own outstanding advice.

Books:
Sony: Private Life and Career Warfare I found amazing.

Financial industry, sure, but the classics are Liar’s Poker and The Bonfire of the Vanities.

exectweets has great quotes!

You just have to sift through the mumbo-jumbo like the rest of us: HBR, Fast Company, Business Week, Inc. Magazine, The Economist – all great.

I have about a decade worth of CIO Magazine, which Venns well over into CEO territory. Not sure if CEO Magazine or Smart CEO Magazine are as good but you should try them.

I find all blogs worthless noise, on any subject, but that’s me.

Just some ideas.
