What do you think of my articles on Yahoo! Answers, Answerbag, and Fluther in RationalWiki (how might I improve on them)

Fluther

I thought against uploading the logo even if I might cite fair use.

I read only the Fluther one. In sounding factual while misstating some facts (“questions have to be serious”) and giving an odd emphasis to others (quirks of linking), it seems to miss the character of Fluther entirely. While forgoing objectivity (“moderators seem cooler”), it passes up the opportunity to cite significant virtues, thus seeming to render a very flat judgment.

My recommendation would be to get to know Fluther better and then revise your piece.

It sounds very disjointed with references to several different sites scattered throughout with tenuous segue, at best. It also misstates the rules, the questions do not have to be serious.

So noted Jeruba and Yarnlady. I forgot to mention that like Wikipedia, RationalWiki allows annoymous edits.

@Civic_Cat I do volunteer work on Wikipedia, checking reference sources, but I’m not really interested in copy-cats or competitors.

I only read the Fluther one as well. Quite honestly, it seems like it was written by someone who doesn’t know a whole lot about the workings of this website.
Do you know the meaning of the word fluther? It might help you understand the correlation between the avatars and the term “jellies.”

I wrote this on the unofficial wiki that @johnpowell made. It’s oriented around a 1-on-1 chit-chat theme, so it probably isn’t suitable for Wikipedia. There’s also plenty of out-of-date material that I should go in and change around a bit, especially since I wrote that over a year ago.

I only read the Fluther one. It does not really catch the flavor of Fluther. Nor does it accurately reflect what this site is about. Stick around longer and understand Fluther better, then write about it.

I would like to add that each of the articles has the feel of a review, rather than that of an unbiased reference article.

As the community manager here, I’d really prefer that the Fluther article be factual. If you’d like to ask me any questions in order to achieve that goal, feel free to PM me.

@to all. It seems they deleted my articles on AB and Fluther, citing it’s off mission. I will likely challange them on that.

@Jeruba, I didn’t get much satisfaction when I asked this question,
Where do flutherites go to ask dumb, or at least silly, questions?
and the chat room is a different format.

@YARNLADY, RW considers itself neither a copy-cat nor competitor.

“Quite honestly, it seems like it was written by someone who doesn’t know a whole lot about the workings of this website.”

Your honest opinion is largely a correct one.
:-D

“Do you know the meaning of the word fluther? It might help you understand the correlation between the avatars and the term “jellies.””
Yes, I looked it up before I joined.

@Fred931, Thanks. The next article I write, I’ll put a link to the page.

@MissAnthrope, I somewhat agree. The intention was to create a stub and improve on it.

@augustlan, Thanks, and I will.

Note, I readily admit, I haven’t been too active on Fluther—likely will be more so in the new year. I’ve been even less active on AB, maybe 5 log-ins in the last 10 months. I’ve been suspended on YA, and I’m unlikely to sign up again.

@to all, the thing that got to me here, save the getting use to this place—to the extent that I was, was questions like these.
Was infrared photography (videography) used in any of these 3 music videos?
Now maybe he’s correct, but I’m unsure, and if I have to spend a few hours in research, then why go to this site.
