How do i connect my ipod touch to my tv?

I would like to connect my ipod touch 1st generation to my composite imput on my tv. i know apple makes one but it is $40 and thats too much. i have seen them on ebay for $10 but they say it only supports firmware 2.2 and lower.
if you can tell me why this is or where to get a good deal i would be grateful.

it might have something to do with the resolution it allows you to output…merely guessing of course.

I’d suggest getting the apple one that is 40 dollars, just to be sure it actually works.

The problem is the port on the bottom of the ipod, the one that connects it to your computer is quite unique. Now if your just looking for audio, that’s not challenging becuase it has a standard headphone jack. To connect just the audio you would need something like this: http://bit.ly/NFlz1 but for video i’m pretty sure you would need to go apple. Don’t be afraid to google it!

The old iPod headphone jack passes video along with audio. So using a standard 3.5mm to RCA/composite cable is an option, with the caveat that Apple sends the video over the Red output cable instead of the standard Yellow, so:

Red RCA plug -> TV’s yellow RCA jack Yellow RCA plug -> TV’s white RCA jack White RCA plug -> TV’s red RCA jack

Not sure if it will help with the iTouch, but the 3.5mm to RCA cables are only like $5—$8 USD.
