How many servings of vegetables do I get from my Dagwood sandwiches?

Asked by ETpro (34605points) November 13th, 2010

I love to make a Dagwood sandwich for lunch. I typically pile on thin layers of cold cuts and cheese interspersed with various fixings such as pickles, tomato slices, diced onion, and a hearty lettuce leaves such as green or red leaf varieties. I use whole wheat or multigrain bread with stone ground mustard and light mayonnaise or a spread such as Heart Smart™ as condiments. If we have any experts in nutrition here, how close does my sandwich get me to a serving of vegetables if I am counting daily servings of fresh fruits and vegies? Is it one serving, less, more?

Of course, if anyone has suggestions on how to kick my sandwich up a notch, I am open to trying them, so long as the sandwich remains sufficiently compact that I can stretch my mouth open big enough to bite through it.
