Would you like to share stories of when P2P, batch programming and IRC were starting?

It greatly saddens me to know that IRC is almost dead. I wan’t born to experience IRC in it youth, but in it’s time there were many other great things going on. P2P was less commong, batch and VBS scripting were used to exploit school computer systems and prank people, programming seems to have been much more common, and the right people could to great things. Would you like to tell any stories of those gloryfull days, so that one teen who wishes he could have been there to experience it can get a better idea of what it was like?
