Why would a zippered cardigan have 2 zipper pulls?

Asked by ETpro (34605points) January 21st, 2011

My wife got me a nice warm cardigan sweater of ribbed-knit cotton. The odd thing about it is the zipper has twin pulls, one facing down and one facing up. You cannot pull the down-facing one past the end of the zipper so you must pull the sweater over your head to put in on or take it off, even though unzipping it down till just the waist area is connected does make this easy compared to a pullover style sweater.

Has anyone seen such a zipper arrangement before? Can you tell me what the logic of it is?
