What would you do if you knew the world was going to end in a matter of days?

Recently, Harold Camping, a doomsday prophet who makes a cottage industry of calculating the Bible Code for the end of time has been posting billboards warning that May 21st, 2011 will be Judgement Day. When his 1994 prediction didn’t pan out, just as all the other thousands of doomsday prophets have failed, he was undeterred. He recalculated adding in the book of Jeremiah, which he had somehow not taken into account in his incorrect 1994 prophesy.

OK, the bible says in both Matthew and Mark that no man knows that date, not even the angels in Heaven; not even Jesus. It says that only God knows when that date and hour will come. So it’s pretty silly to listen to false prophets who base a doomsday prophesy on the same book that says it can’t be prophesied by any man.

But I have no doubt that human life on Earth will come to an end someday. It may be a nuclear holocaust, or when the Milky Way collides with our neighbor, the Andromeda Galaxy. It could come with a massive extrasolar object strike—say an object the size of Mars hitting Earth. And we may have forewarning. What would you do if we did know the date? If NASA announced that the Hubble Space Telescope has spotted a massive object on a collision course with Earth, how would you react? If we all knew that we have 2 weeks left, what would you do with the time? What would be just fine to leave undone?
