Does carving a pumpkin and scoooping out the seeds upset your stomach?

I am not bothered at all. But, one family member is and occasionally is overcome with waves of nausea.
If you are affected, what is it about hte act that bothers you? Is it the smell, the texture, the idea of it?
In one pre-kindergarten class they have noted that it is pretty much guaranteed at least one child in the class with throw up when they carve a pumpkin as a Halloween activity. That indicates to me there must be something more to it than a purely psychosomatic reaction. What is it?
