What do you think of Romney choosing Robert Bork to select his judicial nominees?

Mitt Romney has selected Judge Robert Bork to head his judicial nominee selection team. Arguably, the most important thing the next president will do—the thing with the most lasting impact—will be appointing justices to the Supreme Court and the federal bench.

In his time on the bench, in every case he heard where the government or an individual was suing a corporation, Bork sided with the corporation 100% of the time. In cases where an individual litigated against the government, Bork found in favor of the government 100% of the time. In a judicial career spanning decades, there were no exceptions. Constitutional protection goes to corporations first, then government second, and individual citizens only when corporations and government are not involved.

Bork believes that the Civil Rights Act is, in his words, “unsurpassed ugliness”. He defends the idea of poll taxes and literacy tests for voters. He has stated that he believes women are not covered by the equal protection clause of the Constitution. He believes that politicians should be able to outlaw birth control. He held that a corporation with a dangerous level of lead need not clean up its environment as the EPA wanted to require, but should rather be allowed to fire any female employees who refused to submit to sterilization. Bork thinks the First Amendment shouldn’t apply to literature, art or science. It only covers political speech, he has claimed. You can’t make this stuff up, folks. Is this the sort of corporatist/fascist agenda we want imposed from the Federal Bench for the foreseeable future in America?
