Why are there flight restrictions in the San Francisco Bay Area today?

Asked by Judi (40025points) April 2nd, 2013 from iPhone

My husband just flew privately from Oregon to Central CA and there were some major flight restrictions around the Bay Area and much more military plane activity than usual. Is something going on? Usually they do this if Air Force One is in the area but I checked and the President is in the White House today.

Odd. There is a flight restriction announced for tomorrow between 5 and 6PM in the SF area (for VIP travel), but none for today.

Could it be for Pelosi or Feinstein?

I doubt they would cause a flight restriction. I have flown when Air Force One and Air Force 2 were both around any there are a lot of restrictions but hubby said there was also a lot of military aircraft in the area.
I wonder if its a foreign dignitary.

See if anything gets posted here that could explain.

@bkcunningham, that is the website that told us it was a VIP restriction. I’m just wondering who the VIP is that it seems even more restrictive than when the President is in town and causes them to increase military activity.

Oops. Sorry. It is the POTUS.

He’s in Colorado and was in DC yesterday. I’m really confused now.

He’s enroute to San Francisco via Colorado. Maybe it is Michelle going ahead of him.

I can’t find anything else.
