Gambling or drugs?

Asked by elbanditoroso (33171points) July 29th, 2013

The Baseball Hall of Fame inducted new members this weekend – sadly, no living player entered the Hall, only some people from three generations ago.

Why? largely because anyone of quality in the last 20 years (Sosa, Bonds, Clemens, McGwire, etc.) has admitted to using performance enhancing drugs. And the Baseball Writers association, who choose new Hall of Famers, look at drug use as cheating. (which it is)

And then there is poor Pete Rose, a truly superior baseball player, who gambled on ball games, and is also ineligible.

What’s fair here? What’s worse? Should gambling knock you out of the Hall of Fame? Gambling isn’t cheating like drug use is…
