Is "a piece of cake" used in the right context?

John: Wow! You have a lot of dolls!
Mary: Yeah. I like collecting dolls. That’s my hobby.
John: You like collecting dolls? It’s a piece of cake.
Mary: do you have a difficult hobby John?
John: yes. I like climbing mountain.
...

I think the idiom “a piece of cake” using here is a bit… odd. Is it correctly used in this context?
