Was Inauguration Day once celebrated as a legal holiday (day off, etc.)?

I’m think way back to elementary school in the 1960s. I have this distant thought in my head that when LBJ (or maybe Nixon) was inaugurated, it was a school holiday.
Or maybe we just watched on black and white TV….
