Has a world, or local leader, ever spent his/her own money to get a government project done? (P&R)

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24481points) May 31st, 2020

Like for example if President Trump spends his own money to build a border wall?

You would think if it was so important that he and his billionaire friends would chip in 50%.

Also does Trump have billionaire friends?

Basically, yes. A certain billionaire, J. R. Simplot, built a beautiful house upon a beautiful hill overlooking Boise, Idaho. When he died, he left it to the state so that it would be the governor’s mansion. No governor ever lived there and it has been torn down. I called it, because of it’s majestic overlook, Fort Simplot.

Are you kidding me? It’s cheaper to allow the taxpayers to cover the cost

Ha! These billionaires won’t even pay for the stadiums for their sports teams to play in. They charge that to the taxpayer. There’s no way they’re going to use their money to fund municipal projects.

If I am not mistaken, certain US Presidents have given their salaries to charities, which are government regulated to some extent.

Obama gave his Nobel peace prize money to charity.
