Recharging a device with less amperage - will this work?

Asked by elbanditoroso (33183points) August 8th, 2021

My daughter dropped off a device that is marked 9 volts 1 amp to operate – it has a rechargeable battery and is depelted right now.

In my junk box, I found a transformer adapter marked 9 volts 300 mA – and the prong on the end fits properly.

Am I correct in assuming that the device will recharge just fine, but it will simply take longer? Or am I risking fire or damage?
