Looking for a source for royalty-free music for use in "Music On Hold" (when you place callers phoning into your business on hold - any ideas for low-cost / no-cost options?

Asked by neodk (2points) August 7th, 2009

Looking for a source for royalty-free music to utilize for music on hold for a medical billing practice. I honestly wasn’t aware how much some of this professional systems cost, so I was hoping that perhaps there were other sources of free music to use on a phone system when callers get placed on hold.

I think these qualify. Beware though, it’s run by Microsoft.

Being able to download a song for free does not mean that you can use it for commercial purposes. Those are two separate things, and if neodk runs into any legal trouble you need to take care of every fee and fine that occurs because of your craptastic answer.

I have no idea how it’s done, but several offices that I call actually have a local radio station playing on the phone when they put me on hold. I imagine there’d be an investment in some kind of equipment to make that possible, but no fees for the music. The downside is that callers hear commercials, DJ banter, and weather reports in addition to the music.
