Mothers: How Far Along Were You When You Started Showing?

Asked by BBSDTfamily (6839points) September 17th, 2009

I know everyone is different, but I want to know how fast people generally start showing. I just looked a little plump until I popped at around 16 weeks.

Since there seems to be something in the Fluther water, preggo girls share your latest belly pics if you can! I like seeing all the little future Jellies.

This is my latest preggo pic: http://beccanealtharp.blogspot.com/2009/09/17-12-weeks-profile.html

@hug_of_war Wow. My mother-in-law only gained 16lbs throughout her entire pregnancy… I wish I was lucky as those women!

With my first, I started showing around six months.

With my second, I started showing around three months.

With my third, I started showing at the moment of conception. ;) OK, not really, but close enough.

The month thing confuses me, and this is my second lol I tell people what week I am, since if you go by 4 weeks=month, then it’s 10 months long, and I choose not to believe that.

With my first pregnancy, I felt I was showing and would pretty much puff my stomach out for my weekly belly photos lol. The first pregnancy you can’t wait to show. I was 19 weeks when I actually had a pregnant looking stomach, but probably a little further along until others noticed, like 24 weeks.

Currently, I’m a day away from being 18 weeks. I can tell that I look pregnant, and so can people that know me…but I’m sure strangers just think I’m a girl with some meat on her. It’ll probably be very noticeable in two weeks. I tend to have a growth spurt around this time.

btw, you look great! I can tell you’re pregnant but wouldn’t guess you were 16 weeks already!

@casheroo Thank you honey! I was 17½ weeks in the picture! Wow you and I are neck and neck… I think you’re just a few days behind me! I gained weight from the beginning (from the clomid) but just started looking more pregnant than fat a few weeks ago. I’ve been losing weight every check-up lately but I’m sure that’s about to stop.

@BBSDTfamily I’m 17w6d today, I’m due Feb 20th. When is your due date? I take belly pics as well, I usually post them on my FB and Twitter. This was me at 16 weeks http://twitpic.com/h58co

@casheroo Due Feb 9th! And you look fabulous! Andybody would be happy with that stomach when they’re not pregnant! And PS you have a new follower ;)

I was quite fit when I fell pregnant with my first child and looked like I had put on a bit of fluid/weight around my belly and then I actually started looking preggers at 4 months….By the end of the pregnancy I looked bigger then the women who were having twins at the same gestation….hmmmmmm 3 years on I still look 4 months pregnant… :(

@BBSDTfamily it all depends on a women’s body and how the uterus sits.. I just had my son five weeks ago.. You may or may not need this advice I am going to give you but what ever you do..get allot of rest now and get everything you need for the little one..and for you too. Read up on information how to care for your self after delivery and things you may need to help with discomfort.. such as soreness, bleeding, and other things no one wants to talk about. I suggest getting a belly wrap, and to use it 24 – 72 hours after birth, it helped getting my stomach flat again yes just after five weeks!! Also get a heating pad to help with the cramping too!! Drink allot of water, one bottle of water every hour so you can drain the water weight you retain from your pregnancy. (I lost thirty pounds in three weeks that with the baby’s weight) Stool softener is going to be your big friend as well.. Also arrange, for additional help when you come home because it will be hard for you to get in and out of bed depending if you got stitches down there, and you need to recover from the delivery. You also want to make sure, you bring warm clothes with you to the hospital…

For some reason, you are going to feel really cold. I delivered during the heat wave and I was freezing wearing jeans and short selves on my way home. Your body is going through allot of changes. When you start to get the first signs of contractions eat!! When you are in the delivery room the hospital will not let you eat or drink until you have your baby just in case you have to have a c-section! I was in labor for 20 hours and didn’t eat over 26 hours! I was so hungry and weak from not having any energy..

PS.. Have allot of emotional support!!

If you have any question please do ask..I am going to tell it how it is..
