Do mothers say the same things worldwide?

Asked by faye (17857points) November 8th, 2009

My daughter just commented that I could have written most of the posts on postcardsfromyomomma. i know there are basics but i prefer to be unique. Am I not?

Could you provide an example of a composition you feel is especially unique?

I think moms (very) generally have the same interests and worries when it comes to their children. Perhaps the sentiments and subjects you cover are conceits of motherhood, but the way in which you phrase them is not. No way to be sure without reading something you’ve written though!

is she a teenager? haha
mothers all have the same concerns in mind for their children and as a loving mother you are probably giving good advice.
Sometimes people need help in areas you know more about and they can help you in return, nobody is perfect thats why everyone is here to help where they can! Don’t worry!

I am not one to believe that all women and mothers experience womanhood or motherhood in the same way – in that there is no universal ‘female experience’ other than the very obvious baby leaving the vagina business but even that can be experienced differently based on culture.

Alot of these I could imagine my grandmother saying more so than my mother. However, thank you for introducing me to this site, I’d never heard of it before and I love sites like this!

You know I could have asked this question better-shouldn’t have worded it the way I did.

Well, let’s just look at the facts – 3 – 4 billion mothers in the world today, and you want to say something unique? Good luck with that.

@YARNLADY Admittedly the odds are against us for total uniqueness,
but I plan on doing my best when I become a mother!
