Is drinking RO water bad if you have an adequate mineral rich diet?

Asked by Ltryptophan (12091points) April 17th, 2010

I have a decent RO(reverse osmosis) set up. It makes very clean crisp water, absolutely void of minerals. I know drinking it by itself will purportedly rid me of minerals that I need if I don’t get enouh in my diet. Will it do anything else that is harmful?

I noticed that I got a runny nose after drinking from my SS water bottle that I had freshly cleaned with hot soapy water. This is a different issue, but should I boil this thing before I drink from it each day? Is soap and scrubbing enough? Water afficionados please answer away!
