Definition here.. I know it is morbid. But it is that time of the year.

Oh, God. I don’t even want to think about this! But I will. :p
There are 2 founders, 3 tech guys, 14 moderators, and me. Even if every mod and myself were wiped out in one day, the 5 guys in the home office could handle the site for the length of time it would take to replace us. If the three tech guys were under the bus, the founders could handle the tech stuff for the length of time it would take to replace them. If all the mods, all the tech guys and I were worm food… the site would probably be a total mess for a little bit, but we’re all replaceable. I don’t think it would be the death of Fluther. I’m sure Ben and Andrew keep each other up-to-date, so one or the other would be ok, but not both.

So, I’m gonna’ say both founders would have to be down for Fluther to be in serious trouble.

Exactly why none of our key employees ever travel together.

This is easy
All it would take is losing Ben.

Andrew wrote:
“Ben only lets me out of my cage every so often so I can’t address the community concerns as actively as I once did. I think it’s OH NO HERE HE CO ”

If something happened to Ben poor Andrew would expire in the cage.
(Cask of Amontillado anyone?)

My bus factor would be about 20. That is all it would take to change the character of fluther as we know it. You can probably come up with a list of names from the over 20k lurve scores.
Who here has not been influenced by @Jeruba’s writing skills or @marinelife’s breath sanity?
On most issues there is a “white” to offset the ‘black”; a “yin” to offset a “yang”. Just imagine what a religious discussion would be like if the “yangs” did not show up.
I feel that is the strength of Fluther. ~Even though I still think ‘yin’ is a jerkwad. ;-)

I’d say 3. I’d only count the founders and tech guys: if 2 survive, they could still work on the project. If only one survives, I’ll bet he’ll be all “fuck this shit, some dude must have cursed Fluther, I’m outta here.”

Wait, that should be a 4. I meant the site could go on if 3 of the founders and tech guys went under. So, the bus factor is 4.

So how does the “bus factor” work if the key people merely got on the bus and rode away? Hmmmm?

I’m still here! Please don’t throw me under the bus. :p
