My boyfriend has had a headache for 5 days, should I make him go to the ER?

Asked by JustJessica (4054points) November 2nd, 2010

My boyfriend has been complaining of a nonstop headache for the last five days, he has also mentioned he feels like his equilibrium is off. He has taken Tylenol and ibuprofen rotating between the two and nothing has helped… He’s stubborn and won’t go to the ER, should I make him?

When in doubt go to the doctor. No one here has enough info to give you an answer….. Maybe he can just call his doctor tomorrow or go to an Urgent Care center. It might be less intimidating (and less wait time) than the ER.

5’8“n 270 lbs IMO would be a bit on the heavy side….Any number of “diseases” would fit the bill as far as symptoms…go to the local pharmacy as most big box pharmacies will have a blood pressure machine for him to test his BP. Either way DO NOT PANIC!! Keep him hydrated and relaxed but do get him checked at a doc ASAP!!

Thank you very much you guys!! I know it was silly to ask such a question, but sometimes it helps to hear others opinions. I’m going to have him take a Benadryl and go to bed and see if that helps, if not it’s off to the Dr. we go tomorrow, like it or not!

I would not worry so much. I’ve had headaches for 30 days in a row. My sister….Gets crazy bad migraines that last for weeks sometimes.
Do you have a family doctor? Make an appointment.

To be safe, go to the doctor, especially if it is not normal. My grandmother had a brain aneurysm, and the only symptom I can recall was a constant headache that got worse.
